 Never  'TRY' To Learn Dance..!!

Dance changes people’s lives. But for now I have become a completely different person through dancing. I experienced the ups and downs of dancing and have developed a way of seeing things in different manner. At some point on this journey I realised: Life is a dance…

Why you shouldn’t TRY to learn dance??
I know some of you might be confused by this title, but I’m sure it’ll be clearer soon.

Trying to learn dance is of no use... Don’t try! Do it, or don’t do it!...You should avoid just trying. If you say “I’ll give it a try”, your brain has already found an excuse, and that’s why we don’t manage it in the end. In the end we only tried it. That’s why it’s OK for us, not to have managed it. That protects our ego. Right from the start!

But if we start by saying: Yeah I’ll do it! I’ll complete it. This is completely different attitude towards work. It doesn’t really give you second choice than finishing your project and this gives us the positive energy to complete the project successfully with 100% effort. If you actively tell yourself that u will succeed in project or achieve a goal, then your brain works differently and surely u will complete everything by facing all kinds of difficulties. If we just try, the chances to fail are much higher.

How does this affect our dancing??
I'll will try to dance. I'll try to spin better. Or I'll will try to go to dance. All these sentences mean that you have already found back door to sneak out, before you start your project. We should stay playful and carefree while we do it! Y don’t we give our best in every little thing we do..??

Are you going to try to go dancing more, or are you going to go dancing more? It might look like a tiny difference, but it will have a big effect on the result. "Trying" things influence different attitude. To create a better feeling of dancing well, we must not try to dance but start dancing from scratch. Sometimes just trying something will not bring up self confidence in us and to completely indulge ourselves in some work will help us think higher and succeed. Positive thinking strategies help achieve your goals.

Dance is nothing but confidence, positivity, motivation, application, skills and development. So each time we start something never tell that 'I will give a try' but tell that 'I can do it'. Don't you feel that you will dance even more great..??

Make doing your best your ideal goal. Focus on what you’ve gained from the process and how you can use it in the future. Avoid focusing on what wasn’t done or should have been done differently.
Allow yourself to make mistakes and then forgive yourself. Work that doesn’t offer satisfaction may feel like lack. Positive Energy Manifests Positive Results.

Memories Of Dance During School Days!

Things end but memories last forever. They never fade. No matter what happens some memories can never be replaced.

Here I got some of my precious memories of Dance in Sai English High School, adugodi.

Childhood dance
Annual day photos

During 1st standard: Memories of this year are quite vague but I do remember dancing for a kannada song in green dress with all those kites. It was more of fun than performing on stage.

Pot Dance
Annual Day photos

During 2nd standard (Pot Dance): Dance was part of life that created memories even during those days. Here again I was in traditional look and the best part was I always used to occupy in the front. This was a pot dance and I was dressed in yellow. I vaguely remember the song. I was scared  on stage and thinking of next dance step was common always.

Western Dance
Annual Day photos

During 3rd standard (Western Dance): This time I chose to be in western look. Dress code and colour was assisted to everyone where I had to where white. Boys were dressed in red. It was a hindi song ( Om Shanti Om) I danced for! To be true I miss my friends!

Group Dance

During 4th standard: I only got group snap of this year with all my friends. I was dressed in red and was feeling happy for looking cute and pretty.

Kolaata Dance
Annual Day photos

During 5th standard (Kolaata): I had my days during this year. I was awarded General Proficiency Award and had been selected as ‘THE BEST STUDENT OF THE YEAR’. December 24th was our school Annual Day, it was great honour and pleasure to collect the Award from MLA Sri Ramalinga Reddy, present transport minister. I never knew he was such a great person but was too excited to receive Award from him.
I had even participated in Cultural Activities and in dance too during the same year 2008. Basically the dance form is called ‘Kolaata’ and I got dressed more in a traditional way, my favourite. Dressed in pink and dancing with all those expessions were ultimate.

Due to no proper photographer facility I could not get snaps from 6th-8th standard.
Now I got memories in my new school i.e Karnataka Reddy Jana Sangha. I didn’t realize I was making memories, I just knew I was having fun!!

Vande Mataram song (9th std)

Final Formation of Dance

During 9th standard: It was my last year of dance during school days. As it was the last year we planned for a Patriotic Song ‘Vande Mataram’. All were dressed in Blazing white, sign of purity. The only time we got to run out of the classroom was for dance practise and the fun we had was ultimate. Dance was full of stunts and I was told to hold the flag at the end of the song. I was best known for expressions and lifting. It was the Best Dance ever.
I thank my parents, all my friends and teachers for supporting me all time to showcase my talent.

Long after the music & dancing are over, the memories remain. Memories don’t fade away and dance too.

Origin of Dance

Origin of dance is continuing mystery as because it does not leave behind any identifiable artifacts! From the beginning of time, songs and stories have brought people together. One of the earliest structured uses of dances may have been in the performance and in the telling of myths. It was also sometimes used to show feelings for one of the opposite gender. It is also linked to the origin of "Love Making." Before the production of written languages, dance was one of the methods of passing these stories down from generation to generation.

It is not possible to identify with exact precision when dance came into existence or became part of human culture. Dance has been an important part of rituals, entertainment and celebrations. But then, there are surviving records, ranging from the mediaeval period to the end of the 20th century and, ultimately, beyond.

Mediaeval Dance: The Middle Ages are a period for which are no known choreographies have come to light. There is, however, ample music clearly written for dance. The most documented form of dance during the Middle Ages is the CAROL also called the "Carole" or "Carola" and known from the 12th and 13th centuries in Western Europe in rural and court settings.  It consisted of a group of dancers holding hands usually in a circle, with the dancers singing in a leader and refrain style while dancing. No surviving lyrics or music for the carol have been identified. Those records we have are, for the most part, pictorial or literary.

Renaissance Dance: During the Renaissance period, there was a distinction between country dances and court dances. Country dances such as Chiarantana remained popular over a long period - over two centuries. A Renaissance dance can be likened to a ball. Knowledge of court dances has survived better than that of country dances as they were collected by dancing masters in manuscripts and later in printed books.  Renaissance period of dance is commonly referred to by dancers as ‘15th century’ and the Late Renaissance period of dance as ‘16th century’.

During 15th and 16th Century: Dancing was a favourite pastime in the Renaissance period. These dances were formal, some were flirty or comical. Dancing in those days were an elegant form of exercise and an expected social skill for society's noble set
The 15th century is the first period in western history to have dances documented well enough for reconstruction.  Several surviving manuscripts describe the dances of the aristocracy. The epitome of Italian court dance was the Ballo.  The 15th century Balli were beautifully designed choreographies for a set number of dancers that featured a wide variety of steps, figures and rhythms.  Unlike the Bassadanza, the music and dance phrases of the Balli were inseparable.
The Allemande originated in the 16th century and was favoured by the Germans, then eventually the French grabbed onto it. The Allemande basically was a serious dance which paraded as couple's, back and forth the entire length of the ballroom, walking three steps, possibly a little hop. Some of the Allemande would find its way into the Waltzes and Square Dance. The grave and majestic Courante was a sight to see. Then there were the lively dances such as the GalliardCoranto, CanarioSaltarelloLa Volta and others.

During 17th and 18th Century: For the most part, the development of historical dance styles in the 17th century is obscure. Sources for the first quarter-century are often difficult to understand; by the last quarter, the Baroque style has already come into being. Baroque dance is the conventional name given to the style of dancing that had its origins during the seventeenth century and dominated the eighteenth century until the French Revolution. Now, for the first time, the dance steps are accompanied by highly codified diagrams showing the use of the hands and arms. Baroque dance notation is no longer verbal, and it is necessary to study the relevant dance manuals in order to understand the diagrams.

During 19th Century: Dances popular during this period included the polka, schottische, two-step, and the waltz. Balls now opened to the stately measure of a polonaise or a Grand March, which also provided a form of fashion display. Stage dance, such as early Classical Ballet, now began to inhabit its own world, quite separate from that of the ballroom.
The Dances were brought together in the late 1960's by Samuel L. Lewis also known as Murshid Sam (1896-1971), a Sufi Murshid (teacher) and Rinzai Zen Master, from their life experiences. The Dances have spread throughout the world, touching more than a half million people in North and South America, eastern and Western Europe, the former Soviet Union, India, the Middle East, Africa, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand. Dance circles are continually springing up around the globe.

During 20th Century

During 20th Century: At the turn of the century, the public looked upon dance as a diversion, not a form of artistic expression.  In 20th century the American Society went through many changes. There appeared to be a crisis in almost all the decades. People found ways to express their feelings about each crisis through dance which came all over the world. We have recorded music (on wax, shellac, vinyl, magnetic tape, CD, and digital media), but it is the invention of moving pictures, captured on photographic film or video, that has revolutionised our ability to study the actual movements of many dancers in the 20th century.

New dance styles keep emerging but, as a counter-balance, interest in the dances of the past is also strong. Latterly, there has been a considerable revival of interest in ballroom dancing, hugely popular throughout much of the 20th century.

The considerable development of interest in early music over the last 150 years has brought with it a growth of interest in early dance, as people have come to realise its huge influence, but there is scope for much more pleasure to be found in historical dance.

Namratha's Dance Journey

 DANCE, MY BIGGEST PASSION!!!

I Love Dancing!

Dance is mainly performing various kind of body movements for many benefits. Dance makes me feel happy. Some people consider as hobby and some as their passion.
Dance isn’t only stretching your arms, lifting our feet but it’s a feeling or interest we go through. While it may be difficult to have dance as career or as passion, but then, why can’t dance be our passion or career?? Yes it can be, I’m passionate about Dancing.

Reasons are quite strange. I normally began with my formal training while I was a kid. Then slowly I started learning how to stretch, move, bend, etc. and my interest on dance grew. I was studying well too but dance created a different feeling to set my life on... Each one can dance but creating a passion through it is not that easy. References to dance can be found in very recorded history.

In the beginning I felt same what everyone feel for dance, as it only suitable as hobby, practise, for entertainment, to just relax, to keep our body fit but as I started learning different dance forms in summer holiday programmes, it itself made me feel that dance is something innovative, wonderful aspect I can aim at!!. While it may be difficult to have dance as career. Probably its my parents support to take my career through dance. I never lost my self confidence, determination, interest and attitude for dance and so I could choose DANCE as my career and passion too. Meanwhile many other career options came to me all through life but the craziness I had for dance reached heights!!. So dance was the only option I choose.

There are different forms of dance but I choose Salsa that is my favourite!

ABOUT SALSA:

Salsa is a popular form of social dance where dancers remain mostly in front of the another, As I started my practise in salsa everything was difficult. There are many factors which are very important while dancing. Balancing plays a major role among all. Having relaxed mind, beautiful smile, clear stretches, perfect moves, spins, rolls, aerobatics lifts are also important and to have a flexible body is plus point. Through a wonderful competitive coaching dance master I learnt different salsa forms.

DANCE IN MY LIFE:

In the life journey, not only I learnt dance education but also life lessons too. I fell sometimes in life but never gave up dance because difficulties are common. I complete all my chores as soon as possible and start dance practise each time I was free. Dance started filling me everything in life and now I cannot live without dancing!!.

I was so confident that I will achieve something in life and at last I did it through dance. I am so proud to stand in the society and to raise my voice to tell people that DANCE CAN BE OUR CAREER and not only aim only for medical, engineering or other courses to excell in life. Dance with passion you'll definitely succeed in life. I love calling dance as colourful because it brings colours in my life and so I choose DANCE, MY BIGGEST PASSION!!!
